Research Affiliation:

  • Funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, our lab (from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the University of Regina, and Northern Illinois University) are studying leisure behaviors and the transition into retirement for Canadian Baby Boomers. This three year longitudinal study is giving us insights on aging, leisure preferences, and how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the way we perceive and practice leisure.

  • The University of Illinois and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (under PI Brynn Adamson) is analyzing Group Exercise Instructor Experiences Teaching Participants with Disabilities. This research is aligned with our overarching goal of designing community exercise centers and group fitness experiences through a more inclusive and equitable lens.

  • The Sport Equity Lab is a yale-based research lab that focuses on reducing inequities in sport and advocacy. My strengths and research scope through diversity and inclusion, sport engagement, and disability in sport are leveraged here to break down the barriers to sport participation and healthy sport engagement.
